2015 has been a busy year. How fast it seems to have gone by! With only a few months left in the year, color experts have been looking ahead to what the next wave of favorite trends might be.
I was recently invited to attend the 2016 ColorMix seminar by Sherwin Williams at PIRCH in Paramus, NJ. Along with other interior decorators, home stagers and designers, we learned what has been researched and determined to be the sought after colors forecasted for next year’s interior design as well as fashion world. Sherwin Williams has put together 4 very different color palettes influenced by many diverse factors. The “Pura Vida” palette, driven by the millennial mindset, invokes a feeling of health and wellbeing with its comforting, soft, natural colors that include warmer grays, khakis and pinky beiges. The “Mas Amor Por Favor! (More Love Please)” palette, guided by a multi-generational social awareness, is both modern and vintage with it’s happy, playful colors such as rosy pinks, sunny yellows and garden greens. The “Nouveau Narrative” palette with colors including deep reds, navy blues and olive greens mixed with metals lends itself to many styles such as traditional, rustic, industrial and eclectic aesthetics. It is inspired by the industrial evolution and appeal for Made in the USA and upcycled products, promoting social entrepeneurs with the modern makers, handmade craftsman and artisan collaborations. The “Trajectory” palette, compelled by science and technology, is seemingly mysterious and extreme however intriquing with its cool and shimmery hues.
Although these palettes may be deemed the latest trendy colors, they may not be everyone’s particular taste or preference.
